We hold insurance that covers our legal liability for the loss or damage to goods whilst being handled by us.
This is a key differentiation which can cause issues on a claim as the claimant/customer and sometimes the Depot may believe that the goods are actually insured, rather than liability of the carrier.
Goods moving through the network are shipped under the RHA Carriage Conditions or CMR whether by statute or contractually.
The insurance cover we provide, as part of our standard Terms and Conditions**, insures goods against loss or damage due to our negligence only. The value of any potential claim is limited up to a maximum value of £1.30 per kilogram of the goods’ weight. We recommend that goods are insured against all risks encompassing delivery to your client with your appointed provider. It is not normal practice for a carrier to insure a client’s goods in transit against all risks.
We can only consider a claim if there is a proven demonstrable loss.
In the unlikely event that whole or part of your consignment is damaged, lost or mis-delivered you must:
Immediately notify the Stiller Customer Service Team to [email protected] if you intend to make a claim. This must be done within:
in writing
Do not destroy any items involved in the claim.
Our team will then provide you with a claim form which must be completed and returned within 14 days of termination of transit to enable us to process a claim.
